I’m fortunate to be within walking distance of Lake Merritt, which is also why so many posts are from there! Not only is it close for me, it attracts many many birds too.

It’s a privilege to have Lake Merritt right minutes away from downtown Oakland, serving as a refuge for wildlife and people. Throughout the year I’ll see different birds come by, some local and others having traveled far distances.
It’s my second year seeing nesting season out in the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s certainly an amazing area to see the large number of bird species and how they live throughout the year.
It’s spring and birds in the area are nesting. The visit revealed several active nests and many migrants making their way north.
