Emeryville and Berkeley share 7+ miles of the Bay Trail, which has amazing views of the area. And on good days visitors will be greeted with lots of shore birds along the trail and marshy areas.

Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Park is conveniently close to Highway 880 and offers views of Oakland, San Francisco, and South Bay. The park lived up to its name with generally clear skies and “golden brown” fields of foliage.
It’s my second year seeing nesting season out in the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s certainly an amazing area to see the large number of bird species and how they live throughout the year.
El Polin Spring was fairly quiet on a mostly overcast day. Different birds prefer to hunt for food in different lighting conditions. During the visit, a lighter red-tailed hawk continued to scan for prey while a careful vole came out to eat plants.
Heron’s Head Park was originally intended to become a shipping terminal on Pier 98 in Bayview. Those plans never materialized and the thin infill became a salt marsh with tidal channels, a trail, and an ecology center.
