I haven’t ventured out much this year and missed out on seeing another season of nests around the area. Thankfully, a few families of birds seemed to have taken to the nearby courtyard and I managed to catch them teaching juvenile birds how to fly.
Briones Regional Park is conveniently located between Berkeley and Walnut Creek, California. The park has a large number of open trails that help you forget urban life that’s only miles away. We hiked the Briones Crest Trail Loop, a 6.8 mile distance that meandered up hills and around the park.
Many of San Francisco’s natural water sources have been filled or paved over and even the bay is not as large as it once was. But nature is coming back with our help.
