It’s spring and birds in the area are nesting. The visit revealed several active nests and many migrants making their way north.

Bird Facts: The Steller’s Jay bird is named after Georg Wilhelm Steller (1709-1746), a German botanist, zoologist, and explorer. In 1740 he led an expedition and explored Russia and Alaska, discovering six new species. Of them, two are now extinct and three are greatly threatened, leaving the Steller’s Jay the only one not currently endangered.
