The Marin Art & Garden Center is an expansive set of gardens and spaces. It’s free to the public and it’s beautifully maintained by resident groups and volunteers.
On the West Coast, we don’t often see the brilliant fall colors that paint the landscape in New England, but the bright sun gave a last glimpse before our rainy winter season starts.
Fall Leaves
A Black Phoebe was perched on a park bench, readying itself to dart off towards flying insects.
I was happy to watch a hummingbird repeat a routine of feeding, singing, and resting on a tree branch. Its brilliant colors are visible straight on.

Bird Facts: Black Phoebes often wag or flick their tails while perched before acrobatically swooping through the air towards insects. The behavior is reminiscent of cats shaking their tails before they pounce.
