Backyard Birds

As I was working on photos, I heard a bird call outside that I couldn’t recognize. I slowly opened a door to look around, seeing a chickadee hopping around in some plants. It was answering a call from another bird from farther away. I scrambled to get my gear–camera, memory card, teleconverter, lens, house keys…

Unfortunately by the time I was ready, the bird had moved on. While I could still hear the call, it was growing fainter and less frequent. I wasn’t giving up and walked around the neighborhood to see who else I’d encounter. The last time I did this, I was rewarded with a brief glimpse of a Townsend’s Warbler. Although I was unsuccessful seeing the chickadee again, I found several other birds that didn’t mind me getting their picture.
