Squadron of American White Pelicans

Lake Merritt had a big group of White Pelicans, far more than I’ve seen in the past few years. They were very active, gulping down fish in the lake.

Bird Facts: What does one call a group of Pelicans? A squadron, scoop, pouch, or pod are all used.

Some Snowy Egrets and Black-crowned Night-Herons, which are a much more common site by the lake.
